SPRING CLASSES

Start-up and Tuition - Spring classes begin the week of February 25 (unless otherwise noted). Tuition and fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. All courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admissions - Enrollment in any Postgraduate and Continuing Studies course is open to adults at the same low rate regardless of residence. Courses are open to students ages 16-18 with the permission of the instructor and written parental permission.

REGISTRATION TIMELINE

Registrations will be accepted beginning on January 21st.

NO registrations will be accepted prior to Monday, January 21, 2008.

Registration Fees - A $10.00 Registration fee is due once per semester per person.

  • Registration fees do not apply to day trips and/or one day classes.
  • A cancellation fee of $10 will be charged if a day trip is canceled less than 7 days prior to departure.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - 1:00-8:00 pm
Wednesday and Friday - 8:00 am-3:00 pm
Saturday, January 26 - 9:00 am-Noon
Saturday, February 9 - 9:00 am-Noon

Tuition - Our low tuition rates are noted following each course description.

Text and Materials Fees - Most classroom courses require the purchase of a separately priced textbook. Textbooks may be purchased in the Main Office on the first night of class unless otherwise noted.

Senior Discount - Senior Citizens, 60 or over, may register for most courses at a 15% discount. Textbooks, registration and materials fees cannot be discounted. Courses designated as senior classes, one day classes and Monty Tech day trips are NOT eligible for discount.

Refund Policy (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)
Refunds are ONLY given if a class is cancelled or withdrawal is at least one week prior to the first class. Please note the registration fee of $10 is non-refundable. If a course is filled when we receive your payment, you will be given a full refund. Vouchers will be given for all other requests based on the schedule below:

  • A voucher for 100% of the tuition will be issued prior to the first class meeting.
  • A voucher for 75% of the tuition will be issued prior to the second class meeting.
  • NO refunds will be issued after the second class meeting.
  • Classes meeting less than 4 sessions are not refundable after the first class meeting.

Vouchers can be used for the class initially registered for or for a class of equal or lesser value. Please be advised that if a voucher is used towards a lesser valued class, balances are not refundable.

All refunds are processed through our Business Office and may take 3-4 weeks to process. Registrations paid by credit card will be refunded as a credit on your credit card. No cash refunds will be disbursed.

A $25.00 fee will be charged for checks returned for non-payment.

First Night of Classes - Students should report to the cafeteria 10 minutes prior to class on the first night for orientation. At that time, instructors will be introduced and room/shop assignments will be announced. Your promptness will help you to avoid getting lost or frustrated.

Holidays and No-Class Dates - There are no Continuing Education classes on the following dates:

  • March 26 - Open House
  • April 9 - Superintendent’s Dinner
  • April 21-25 - Spring Vacation
  • May 26 - Memorial Day
  • May 29 - Graduation
  • June 3 - General Advisory Dinner

Occasionally classes are canceled due to additional school events.

Program Offerings - Every effort will be made to offer the courses and programs described in this brochure. However, the Postgraduate and Continuing Studies office reserves the right to make changes to courses, programs and policies as circumstances dictate. The school reserves the right to cancel classes that have insufficient enrollment. A listing in this catalog does not guarantee a course or program will run. Upon receipt of payment, the Postgraduate and Continuing Studies office considers the student registered.

Class Cancellation - When Monty Tech day school classes are canceled, evening classes are also canceled. During the day if the weather conditions change drastically necessitating the closing of the night school programs, cancellation of classes will be broadcast over radio stations WBZ (AM 1030), WEIM(AM1280), WRKO(AM680), WXLO(FM104.5), WSRS(FM96.1), WGAW(AM 1340) and WTAG (AM580). Classes canceled due to weather conditions or illness of the instructor will be rescheduled.

Certificates - All Postgraduate and Continuing Studies courses are non-college credit, non-graded courses. Certificates of completion are issued to all students enrolled in career training and professional development courses meeting 10 hours or more providing they maintain a 70% attendance. Certificates of attendance may be requested for courses that are not categorized as professional development or career training. Practical Nursing, Phlebotomy and Electrical Code courses are graded according to instructor standards.

Parking - Adequate parking is provided in well-lit parking lots. We must keep the front of the building free for emergency services. Please do not park in the diagonally marked spaces directly in front of the building.

Smoking Policy - Monty Tech is a smoke-free school. The use of all tobacco products is prohibited in the school and on school grounds according to Massachusetts State Law.

Office Hours - Our Postgraduate and Continuing Studies staff is available to meet with prospective students to discuss educational opportunities at Monty Tech. During the semester, the office is open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or by appointment.
