Plumbing Apprenticeship Training Program
These Tier courses fulfill the educational requirements set forth by the Massachusetts Board of Examiners of Plumbers and Gasfitters for apprentice training. These courses are designed to prepare and qualify the apprentice to take the Journeyman Plumbing Exam. Classes will cover the science, mathematics, and theory of plumbing and gas fitting and will include blueprint reading and study of the Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Codes. Additionally, hands-on training in the plumbing shop may be integrated into the course where appropriate. This program is applicable to all plumbing apprentices. Students will be assigned to a Tier, based upon their prior training. Upon successful completion of the course, students who received their apprentice license prior to September 1, 2008, and are grandfathered under the former regulations, will receive certification of the hours completed. Students who received their apprentice license after September 1, 2008, or who otherwise Spring under the new regulations, will receive certification of the Tier completed. Students must pass a final exam as per the requirements of 248 CMR 11.02: (1) (a) 2. (b). Required materials include: current editions of the plumbing and gas codes, notebook, calculator and writing utensils.
