ELECTRICAL
The Monty Tech School of Continuing Education is an approved institution by the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examiners to teach classroom instruction in electrical code and theory.

Monty Tech School of Continuing Education (SCE) runs each Electrical course starting every September. Students can begin registering after July 1st. To see the current course listing you may do so here.
Journeyman Program
According to the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examiners, before an individual can be eligible to register for the electrical licensing exam, the individual must complete the following, both of which are approximately four years:
(1) 8,000 hours of employment as an apprentice under the direct supervision of a MA Class B Journeyman license; and
(2) 600 hours of classroom instruction in electrical code and theory from an approved school based on the current National Electrical Code.
SCE utilizes 4 Modules with 150 hours of classroom training in electrical code and theory, meeting state requirements. Students will examine the National Electric Code, CMR 237 13.00-24.2, and MA Amendments Code, among many more specific topics in preparation for the MA Journeyman Electrician Exam.
Students with prior Electrical Education must submit their certificates to the office before registering for their course.
Masters Program
The Master Electrician course is 150 hours of classroom training preparing the student for their MA Master Electrician License given by the state.
According to 237 CMR 13.01, a licensed Journeyman Electrician applying for a Master Electrician license exam shall meet the following eligibility criteria
A) furnish documentary proof satisfactory to the Board of having completed at least one year of experience as the holder of a Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license and having been actively engaged in electrical work.
B) furnish documentary proof satisfactory to the Board of having successfully completed without substantial interruption 150 clock hours of classroom instruction, as described in 237 CMR 22.02: 150 Hours of Education Required as a Prerequisite for Master Electrician Examination.
The Monty Tech School of Continuing Education is an approved institution by the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examiners to teach classroom instruction in electrical code and theory. Upon completion of this course, and holding a MA Electrical Journeyman's license for one year, students will be eligible to sit for the Master Electrician Exam.
Students must bring proof of Journeyman’s license to the first night of class.
