Are the trade programs at Night School the same as the High School?Although there is a lot of overlap between the high school program and the night school, not ALL of the shops are offered at night time as they are during the day. To see a current listing of the night courses please go here.

How do I become a licensed Plumber in the state of Massachusetts?These are the state regulated requirements on how to become eligible to sit for the MA Plumbing Journeyman’s exam. Experience.6,800 clock hours as a licensed apprentice working under the direct supervision of a MA licensed master plumber or under the direct supervision of a MA licensed journeyman plumber who is in the employ of a master plumber. Helping students find an apprenticeship is not a service we provide. Please see “How to get an apprenticeship” to learn more. Education. Documentary proof of having received a high school diploma or the equivalent; and 550 clock hours of plumbing and gasfitting theory. This is done in 110 blocks per year, which are called Tiers. Students cannot do more than 165 hours of classroom instruction per year, and must do their instruction in 110 hour blocks. NOTE: Apprentices must begin their education program within nine months of the initial issuance of their apprentice license. How to apply for an apprentice license can be found here. Monty Tech School of Continuing Education runs each Tier once a year starting in September and ending approximately in late February, early March. Students must complete all 5 tiers, and acquire the required hours of hands-on experience in order to be eligible to sit for their Journeyman’s license exam.

How do I become a licensed Electrician in the state of Massachusetts?These are the state regulated requirements on how to become eligible to sit for the MA Electrical Journeyman’s exam. Experience. 8,000 hours of employment as an apprentice under the direct supervision of a MA Class B Journeyman license. Helping students find an apprenticeship is not a service we provide. Please see “How to get an apprenticeship” to learn more. Education. 600 hours of classroom instruction in electrical code and theory from an approved school based on the current National Electrical Code. This is taught in 4 levels of 150 hours each, called Modules. Students cannot do more than 150 hours of classroom instruction per year, and must complete instruction in 150 hour blocks. The Monty Tech School of Continuing Education is an approved institution by the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examiners to teach classroom instruction in electrical code and theory. The school utilizes 4 Modules with 150 hours of classroom training in electrical code and theory, meeting state requirements.

How to get an apprenticeship:Monty Tech School of Continuing Ed. does not provide services to help students acquire an apprenticeship. In order to get an apprenticeship, students must contact local companies, and inquire if they have apprenticeship opportunities. If the company needs proof of enrollment in the night school, we can provide documentation as needed. Those who seek further assistance in finding an apprenticeship may reach out to MassHire North Central Career Center. Do you have HiSET or GED Courses?GED Test Preparation courses are available online. Admission is rolling so you can enroll at any time. These courses can be found through ed2go here. Do you accept Financial Aid?Although we do not accept Financial Aid at this time, we do have zero-interest Payment Plans for all Career Courses. Payment plans come in a Monthly, Bi-Weekly, or Weekly options where you complete your course debt free. To Enroll in a payment plan please contact the office prior to registering.

What courses are eligible for Payment Plans?Specific Career Pathway courses are eligible for payment plans. To inquire if a class is eligible for a Payment Plan, please contact the office.

How do I register if my employer or another funding source is paying for my course?To do this, you must register either over the phone, or in person. You must also provide a letter from either your employer, or outside funding source, indicating they will be covering the cost of your course. This must be provided before the first night of class, or your seat in the class will be forfeited.

First Day of Class!WELCOME to Monty Tech’s School of Continuing Education (SCE)! You should arrive ten minutes prior to the scheduled start. Only park in available, non-designated parking spaces. All students should enter through the main school entrance (across from the flag poles), and you will be greeted by a SCE representative. If your class is live remote, you will be contacted by your instructor prior to the class start time. Please check your spam or junk folder for online class instructions.

Books & SuppliesStudents may be required to purchase a textbook (noted in the course description). The ISBN number(s) for the text can be found on our website under the full course description. If required, a cash only supply, or material fee will be payable to the instructor the first night of class. Please remember to bring any supplies listed in the course description.

Payment PlansWe do not offer financial aid. However, some of our courses are grant-funded for qualifying students, and most of our courses are eligible for a 0% interest payment plan. No matter how you pay, you will finish your course debt-free.

Discounts*Discount does not apply to classes meeting fewer than 4 nights. • 10% Senior Citizens. • 10% Monty Tech Alumni & Current Faculty. • 10% Veterans; Veterans may use their veteran education benefits to pay for several courses. SCE’s billing complies with S.2248 PL 115-407 Section 103 of the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018.

Cancellation PolicySCE reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment, make instructor changes, or to change class schedules due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a class cancellation, SCE will make every effort to contact students via email or phone as soon as possible.

Refund/Withdrawal PolicyIf you withdraw from a course: • Five days or more prior to the start date you will receive a refund minus a $10 processing fee • Four days or less prior to the start date you will receive a 75% account credit (nontransferable, expires one year from issue date) • Day of or after the start of your course, no refund or account credit will be issued • Account credits cannot be refunded later, are not transferable to other students and will expire one year from issue date. • No Refund on deposits. All Personal Enrichment courses must be paid for in full upon registration. Any student who is a no-show or drops after the first night of class is still financially responsible for full tuition. No student will be able to register for any new classes until unpaid balances are paid in full.

Inclement WeatherSafety first! When the day school is cancelled due to weather conditions or other emergency events, evening classes are also cancelled. In the event day classes are not cancelled and the Montachusett area expects severe weather in the evening, a decision will be made by 3:00 PM and students will be notified via email. Cancelled classes are made up (same day of week and time) by extending the end date of the course unless other arrangements are made between the instructor and the class and are approved by the director.

SUBSTANCE Free SchoolMontachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District is a substance free community. There is no use of any kind of illicit substances, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or vaping products allowed in the school buildings or on school grounds.
